Design Wow: Alessi Apostrophe Orange Peeler

Posted on: November 23, 2009

There is this shop that is down the street from my apt that I’ve wanted to go to for the last couple of weeks and finally had enough courage to walk into this weekend. There was many reasons why I should have gone earlier, but I think it was because of the small scotty running around the store, who had barked at us one night coming home from the grocery store. Lame, I know but on Saturday, he recognize me, so I went in.

This store is a cross between crate and barrel meets paper source and I’m pretty stoked that it’s literally a block away from my apt. While toolin’ around the store, I found this gem:

Alessi Apostrophe Orange Peeler

Source

You see, this picture is misleading. When we saw it, it was just the tool and there was no orange anywhere near it. So, at first the hubs and I looked at it inquisitively like what does this do? What’s it’s purpose? We stayed puzzled over this for a good 5 minutes. Which I think is a ridiculous amount of time to think about one thing and still not have an answer to what it is. But eventually we wised up and looked at the paperwork that was also in the box. To much of our surprise, it turned out to be a orange peeler. You should have seen our faces. It was like the light bulb had finally turned on and we are all right with the world.

Personally, I think it’s cool, but the hubs… notsomuch. That’s ok. But to be perfectly honest, I kinda want it.

Was there anything like this that you was about at first, but then found out what it was and realized how cool it was?

Well thank you very much for your nice thoughts.
I’m very happy that A’ brought you the right
signs that I meant when designing it .

BTW, is perfect also to open walnuts. just place the point
on the top part and twist it… :-)

Hope you’ll enjoy it …
